Surveillance Once Again Reveals the Truth

A 58-year-old California man claimed to injure multiple body parts after slipping on wet stairs. During medical examinations, as well as in his workers’ compensation deposition, the worker claimed the fall resulted in significant and ongoing physical limitations. While he was injured on the job, there was a concern that the worker was attempting to exaggerate his work comp claim.

To get to the truth, ICW Group’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) began investigative surveillance and discovered the worker actively engaged in the type of physical activities he claimed he was incapable of performing for his employer. Video evidence was shared with the worker’s physician who confirmed the worker was not being truthful. The matter was referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Insurance for investigative review. Two felony counts of insurance fraud have now been filed. ICW Group’s SIU will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as this matter progresses through the criminal justice system.
