Delivering an Exaggerated Account

A Kentucky-based delivery truck driver reported multiple body parts were injured when another vehicle hit the rear of her heavy-duty truck, ultimately causing a crack to the truck’s bumper. Equipped with in-cab cameras, the truck’s video was immediately available to the responding officer as well as the driver’s employer. While the relative lack of damage to both vehicles, no initial report of injury by the driver, and large weight difference between the two vehicles initially indicate that an injury wasn’t likely, a review of the truck’s in-cab video sealed the deal. With evidence gathered, the case was promptly denied before this worker was able to drive up the cost.

On-premise security camera systems, including on-board vehicle cameras, can be a great way to get to the truth when it comes to workplace accidents. ICW Group’s Special Investigations Unit encourages you to ensure that your cameras have sufficient coverage and the ability to save recorded footage for a sufficient time to allow you to retrieve and preserve footage in the case of a workplace incident. As in this case, it could make all the difference.
